She’s finally finished, whew (insert brow wipe here)! And it only took 79 days and a total of 4 broken needles to finish. Impertinent socks indeed, but so worth it. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love the finished product. There’s no second-sock syndrome with these babies, the pattern keeps you on your toes the whole way. It is seriously the best designed pattern I have ever knit. Period. Thank you Yarnissima!

For now I need to move on to much simpler knitting, I need a “brainless” and quick knit that will just fly off my needles while I watch TV. I just need to recuperate from the Impertinent Socks. Last night I cast-on Small Wings Socks from the Little Box of Socks book I received way back in December. I’m thinking that it’s just what the doctor ordered, thanks Ruby! Once they’re done (and once I receive my Knit Picks order of replacement needles) I think another Yarnissima pattern beckons me – Cairdeas maybe, or perhaps Spina de Pesci? …

Sorry, today I don’t have any knitting updates to share. Nor do I have anything particularily clever to say, or a funny story to share.
The truth is, I haven’t knit a single stitch in a week now. My precious knitting bag is packed up and hidden in a huge floor to ceiling stack of cardboard boxes sitting in my mother in law’s living room. You see, it was only supposed to be packed up for just a few hours, to keep it safe as it made the journey from our city condo to a beautiful new home just a little bit north. A beautiful new house with plenty of room for a sewing/knitting room and plenty of room for our daughter to run around in. I won’t go into all of the gory details – its quite the stressfull, crazy, unbelievable story - but in a nutshell, at the very last minute we didn’t get the house. And I really mean the very last minute. All of our possessions were loaded onto the moving truck with absolutely no where to go. Thankfully, we have a wonderful caring and supportive family who took us all in at the last minute and thankfully today things are looking a little brighter – we may get the house after all. Its good to know that there are still people you can count on, even amidst those that let you down big time. Those that care what happens to you, your family and your child even amidst those who don’t care enough to pick up the phone and say sorry I let you down. Thank God for *real* family and Thank God for the kindness of strangers.

I finished the first sock!!! I’m just warning ya, its very purple! I’m sitting around the house right now wearing it and my foot is nice and toasty while the other is freezing. Yes, freezing in July because the A/C is cranked up since I’m feeling sick. Who gets the flu in July??? So without any further ado, here is the sock…

Oh and I thought I should share the little stash of Lindon Merino from Three Irish Girls that I blogged about the other day. Here they are in their girly glory… (from left to right) Alice, Elsbeth and Nora. Which should I steal for myself? Personally, I’m leaning toward the Nora.

I recently signed up for the sock yarnisa club at TIG even though I’ve never knit socks before. I am a knitting novice so I’m not sure what I’ve gotten myself into! I thought it would be nice to knit something up for moi for a change, I admit I’m a bit envious of all of little A’s yummy woolies. So in order to prepare myself for my first shipment which will be coming to me in late August I thought I should probably try my hand at knitting a pair of socks.
I found a “simple” pattern for here , The Super Simple Knitwit Sock Pattern, which calls for worsted weight yarn which I just happen to have plenty of in little A’s stash. I chose a left over trim skein of BBR dyed by Nurturing threads in a purple to match their Ankh colourway. So I’m about 25% done the first sock and all I will say is that dpns are not my friends. ugh.
On a side note, I just got in some TIG yarn from a co-op meant for longies for little A and they are gorgeous! Alice, Nora and Elsbeth all on Lindon merino (my favorite, love this stuff). YUM! I might have to steal a couple of skeins from little A and perhaps knit up a cowl or something for myself *shhh*.
Now I’m off to pock my fingers raw again and finish those socks!
